Compassionate storytelling

As part of our Refugee Week celebrations in June, Refugee Roots hosted a digital exhibition at the Nottingham Playhouse to explore the national theme of COMPASSION through art, storytelling, and poetry. The exhibition was launched with a theatre workshop facilitated by actors Matt Miller and Evangeline Osbon.

The group had the opportunity to write and perform poetry with the focus on Haikus, a Japanese style of poetry, and participate in an improvisation challenge with props and storytelling. At the event, participants were surrounded by their own artwork displayed on screens in the exhibition space.
