Last year a team of four including the Charity Director and a Trustee took the French Alps "en velo" and this year it is time to bigger and higher. Raising over £2000 the target now is higher to match the challenge ahead this year.
I'm running to raise much needed funds to support Refugees and Asylum Seekers living in Nottingham. Refugee Roots supports Refugees and Asylum seekers who find themselves seeking sanctuary in Nottingham. These individuals are fleeing conflict in their home country and have often experienced traumatic journeys to the UK. On arrival to the UK, sadly this journey does not end overnight. That is where the support of Refugee Roots comes in.

I have volunteered with them in the past, helping to teach English and linguistically support Ukrainian refugees and I saw what an important role Refugee Roots plays in providing a sense of community for refugees, as well as helping them to integrate, manage complicated legal processes, and manage their difficult situations.

Maples House at Nottingham High School have organised a 'Move-a-thon'. They are uniting in a challenge that encompasses walking, running, cycling, rowing and swimming, to collectively cover distances that mirror the journeys undertaken by individuals seeking refuge in the UK.
