Belonging through Art

2021 turns a new leafs and with a very seasonal Art session started off our exciting new Art project funded by the Arts Council England. Participants have been referred to the group who are looking for a way to engage their interest in Art. It is providing participants with some much needed space to think, be and rest through sessions that are improving wellbeing.

Already after 3 sessions feedback from 5 participants indicate that that they feel they belong, they are confident in the group and that their art is improving.

The first session took place on the 12th of January. Refugee Roots posted out 31 art packs to participants, with another 9 going out the following week. This means we have so far been able to engage 40+ participants in our new project! The art packs include basic materials and resources for the activities.

The Arts Council funding so far has enabled us to purchase all of the items needed for the art packs, cover postage and Artists costs to run the art workshops.

Each week we have an online meetup for participants with the artists  and our volunteers.

We post weekly videos online and share through a Whats App Group our experiences and art.
