News Welcoming Sukriti as Community Coordinator Sukriti has recently joined us as Community Coordinator, with responsibility for overseeing our group activities including the Access project. "As a migrant to the UK, I am deeply familiar with the challenges of settling into a new country. Adapting to an unfamiliar environment involves navigating many layers of unfamiliarities about people, spaces, and cultures. At the same time, migration entails an ongoing sense of loss—of identity, community, spaces, and cultural practices. I applied to work with Refugee Roots because the charity’s ethos and work with refugees and asylum seekers resonate with this dual experience, acknowledging both the challenges and the losses. In my previous roles, I have worked as a caseworker supporting students affected by unacceptable behaviours and as a therapist helping both children and adults navigate emotional challenges such as depression and anxiety. Alongside, my work at Refugee Roots, I run a private counselling practice. Outside of work, I enjoy learning Hindustani classical music, exploring geopolitical topics, and experimenting with new recipes. " Manage Cookie Preferences
