This exciting collaboration marks the unveiling of the Museum’s new Sanctuary Cell and the permanent installation of the powerful “Welcome Mat”—a community‑commissioned art piece created by artist Ismail Khokon in partnership with refugees and asylum seekers in Nottingham Throughout the day, visitors are invited to join free guided tours (10:30–11:15, 2:30–3:15), drop-in creative workshops (11:00–12:30, 1:30–3:00), and enjoy lunch and refreshments while exploring the “30 Objects of Justice” exhibition (12:30–13:30) Booking is required in advance, though all events are free and open to all. The heart of the takeover is the “Welcome Mat”, a large-scale mixed-media work blending photography, storytelling, and hands-on art.
