Refugee Roots: A New Home, A Stronger Future

A new chapter is unfolding for Refugee Roots. Our journey of providing support, community, and belonging to refugees and asylum seekers continues as we move from Clarendon Chambers to a central home in Nottingham’s Market Square, right by Nottingham’s iconic Left Lion.

This move is more than just a change of address—it strengthens our ability to serve those in need. With excellent transport links serving the city centre, the new first floor office will offer greater access, ensuring that everyone can reach us with ease. Thanks to strong partnerships with local organisations, we have arrangements in place that mean we can accommodate everyone.

We are grateful to all those who have supported us in the interim period between the closure of Clarendon Chambers and moving to our new office.

St Mary’s Church in Lace Market quickly responded to our need for space and had us up and running within days of Clarendon’s closure, and followed by Minor Oak in Sneinton where we were well looked after. Nottingham Women’s Centre stepped in and supported the continued delivery of our women’s group, St Andrews with Castle Gate United Reformed Church and St Nic's provided space for our language classes on Fridays, and Nottingham Central Library offered affordable room hire. 

This transition was also made much easier by the resilience of our staff, volunteers, and participants.

A Home That Reflects Our Mission

Our Vision A place to belong for those seeking refuge and protection to feel welcome and valued, finding support to rebuild their lives with dignity.

Our Mission We will create a family of networks, connections, people and friendships for refugees and asylum seekers.

We are confident that the new location will further service our vision and mission, within days of the move already new opportunities are emerging as our networks of partnership and collaboration grow and we hear that participants and volunteers are meeting by the Left Lion.

Office launch

Our commitment to hosting activities and support groups in accessible venues remains stronger than ever, and we look forward to welcoming you to our new home. Keep an eye out for an opening event on 7 May —a chance to celebrate, meet our team, and spend some time together. Watch this space!
