We Need You

We are calling on artists, writers, poets, and storytellers to share their creative work on the theme of work. Whether it be stories, poetry, or creative writing, we want your voice to help us explore this vital topic.

The Right to Work: Stories from Nottingham is an upcoming exhibition and zine that showcases the voices of refugees living in Nottingham. Together, we will delve into the highs and lows of work, identity, and belonging. Through meaningful objects and heartfelt writing, this project highlights the personal experiences of those who have been forced to leave their homes yet continue to seek purpose and community in their new surroundings.

Over the past six months, refugees have shared their stories through workshops that explored their relationships with work. From tools of old professions left behind to cherished items symbolising future aspirations, these objects reveal powerful insights into their lives. Their stories are filled not only with frustration and hardship but also with resilience and hope. Ultimately, this project invites us all to consider what the right to work truly means.
