I have experienced such joy whilst volunteering, it is so pleasing to watch the happiness that having a conversation or playing a game of cards brings. Taylor

Volunteers like Taylor build positive friendships with refugees, through the small gestures of welcome, creating a place where refugees can belong. Taylor supports our Access project setting up the room, putting food and clothing items out, checking what stock we have and meeting our participants. You can often find Taylor playing Uno, Dobble or other card games, sharing fun and laughter. One participant said "her enthusiasm does me good".

Gill has been a volunteer with the charity for about two years. She started as a befriender and found that to be a most rewarding activity. When the Tuesday Women's Group started, she began leading the group with the Support Worker. Gill is also one of our trustees. Gill said

The best things for me have been forming relationships with the women who might otherwise be isolated and seeing them make new friendships with other women. I enjoyed watching their confidence grow in speaking, reading and writing in English.

You could get involved and start making a difference like Taylor and Gill.
