Overcoming Isolation and Loneliness

Our new Telephone Befriending Coordinator is enabling and motivating our volunteers to overcome isolation and loneliness in the lockdown and outbreak of Covid 19.

Becca who previously worked in Iraq with Tearfund is creating a place to belong as she coordinates the matching of volunteers to participants and oversees this much needed and innovative approach.

With as many as 35 volunteer providing remote befriending on the phone, video calls and using the royal mail more than 40 individuals are being supported regularly. With many appreciating the benefits of this support we determined to make sure that the most vulnerable receive the support that they need.

Close partnerships and relationships with our local authorities and other organisations are vital now more than ever.

We appreciate the support and partnership of all who share the same concerns and hopes for our participants

I’ve loved seeing our list of volunteers continue to grow and expand - people are so keen to get involved and it’s been a great help as our referral list for befriending and English support has been never ending. It’s a challenging volunteer role for many, especially if they’re supporting someone with low level English but everyone is trying their best and making a real difference - lots of positive feedback from participants!
