Celebrating Trustee's Week

This week is trustee week! It is a week which is about celebrating the amazing work of the trustees who run charities across England and Wales. This year, especially, we are grateful for the work of trustees, in what has been an incredibly difficult time as a result of COVID-19.

We have in this been seeking to recruit trustees and its been hard! We are so excited this week to be welcoming three new trustees this week to Refugee Roots! Tim, Helen and Roda will no doubt add to the vast range of expertise and skills the trustees bring to the table at Refugee Roots.

Helen

Helen volunteers as a befriender and started doing this 2 years ago, at Ruddington Baptist Church, who have been extremely supportive of the charity and encouraged participation and volunteering. We are so excited to welcome Helen who says that she “has the time and passion to offer assistance where possible to enable the charity to progress and develop its mission to assist and help refugee and asylum seekers and integrate to settle well.”

Tim

Tim has also done plenty of volunteering, helping out with day trips and raised food donations within the school he works for. Not only this but Tim has also been a volunteer with Refugee Roots is passionate about supporting the charity expand its work and capacity to change the lives of others. Welcome, Tim!

Roda

A former Rainbow Project volunteer and steering group member has come back again with her enthusiasm and expertise in research and migration. We look forward to her re-involvement with the charity.

We are still recruiting trustees in particular those with experience in HR, Management, Fundraising and Income Generation.

Robert believes that “Being a trustee for Refugee Roots allows me to give back to a cause I believe and have faith in”. You could join like Robert and play a key role in the change we are seeing as a result of our work.
